Dental implants are a great alternative to getting dentures and are very natural looking.
Reasons for Dental Implants

- Enhance facial tissues
- Securely support a denture
What is the Process for Receiving Dental Implants?
Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth surgically attached to your jawbone. Dental Implants take multiple dental appointments to be placed.
First x-rays and impressions are taken to evaluate bone and gum tissue and determine spacing needs. Dr. Sherrod Jewell numbs the area and surgically places the implant into the bone. Your mouth can take up to six months to heal. Sometimes the post that will hold the artificial tooth can be placed at the time of surgery. In some cases a second surgery is needed to add it.
Artificial teeth will be developed and then fitted to the post either at the time of surgery or after a few weeks. It may take several fittings and as long as two months to complete this step.
Dental implants can last a very long time, especially with good oral hygiene. Dr. Sherrod Jewell will provide you with instructions for caring for your new implants which will include proper eating habits and regular dental visits.
