Candy is the go-to treat to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. But it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of goodies that kids love to receive that don’t contribute to their dental demise. Plus, this is the kind of treat that helps keep a kid visible on that spooky, dark Halloween night. They’re easy and inexpensive to purchase in bulk and some options last long past October 31.
Slap Bracelets
You might consider them old school, but slap bracelets are the hot new accessory for kids, and now they’re more creative than ever before. You can buy Halloween-themed bracelets or opt for a wide selection of colors and designs. Slap one on each of your trick-or-treaters and send them on their way.
Pop-Its
From keychains to bracelets to balls, these fidget toys are all the rage and come in a host of colors and patterns. Hand out a pop-it toy on Halloween night and you’ll be the most popular house on the block. Pop-its last longer than any jawbreaker or hard candy, and keep kids busy and away from the candy bowl – and cavities.
Erasers
You’re not a cool kid in school unless you have a fun, funky, different kind of eraser, so the trick-or-treaters that make it to your neighborhood will appreciate any addition to their school box. The options are endless, from 3D to puzzles to scented versions. If you want to be tongue-in-cheek, look for erasers that are shaped like teeth or toothbrushes – a subtle reminder for ghouls and goblins to prioritize their dental care.

You can buy them by the dozen times 10, whether you choose animals, foods, or Halloween-themed creatures. This is the hot toy of the day and kids can sneak squishies in their backpack for some stress relief or squeeze away while watching TV or working on homework – far better than gnawing on a piece of candy.
Halloween Dental Care
We have to be realistic – Halloween is about candy. There is no need to stop your kids or anyone else from enjoying their favorite sweets, but it’s good to go after the yummy stuff in moderation. It’s also important to be careful about what your children are indulging in if they wear braces or Invisalign, have a loose tooth, or are prone to cavities.
